Keisha at a New York Young Republican Club General Meeting |
Greetings:
Family, Fellow Republicans, Greater Harlem, and Visitors
Harlem is a place of International and National fame. Harlem is historically marked a time of brilliant cultural and artistic
growth and exposure celebrating the black arts including Legendary performers and celebrities; The names are internationally
admired and respected, Honorable Adam Clayton Powell, Billie Holiday, Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers, James Baldwin, Roy
Campanella, Sugar Ray Robinson, Billie Holiday, Chick Webb, Count Basie, Diana Ross, Ella Fitzgerald, Eubie Blake, James Brown,
James Baldwin, Joe Louis, Langston Hughes, Lionel Hampton, Sugar Ray Robinson, and WEB Dubois. Harlem was the epicenter of
black culture in the pre war years. The Village of Harlem is one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse districts in
New York City, with an African American, Asian, Latino, Orthodox- Jewish and Mexican Population.
New York City distinguishes itself in many areas including global finance, media, performing arts and world class restaurants.
"I Remember Harlem"
I am a Republican of over thirteen years joining the grassroots and mainstream Republicans to educate the people and voters
on what it means to be Republican, to fight for our party's future, to defeat the far right and to bring the Republican Party
back to it's roots as the Party of moderation and inclusion- the Party of Abraham Lincoln. I believe in co- opting creativity
and ideas of change, no matter their source and solving problems with dedicated individuals, regardless of their party affiliation.
In the spirit of those who exemplified great leadership, I stand on the shoulders of, Aileen Avery, Ann Klein, Cyril Brown,
Florence Rice, Joe Roberts, Lionel Hampton and Madame C. J Walker. Republicans again became strong in 1995, with a source
of new ideas for future generations reforming education, social security reform, and reforming the welfare system.I am concerned
as a resident of the greater Harlem community, that fundamental problems filthy streets job development, improving infrastructures
and the transportation, and lower taxes and fairer tax policy for individuals and small business and promoting cultural diversity
are her current issues and political platform.
It is time for a change, one of the most famous neighborhoods in the great City of New York and known throughout the world
for it's cultural political and social contribution is about to be lost. Central and East Harlem, Hamilton and Washington
Heights, Manhattanville, Morningside Terrace, Upper Manhattan and Westside screams for Urban Development in crucial infrastructure,
(industry, roads, transportation etc.) and foundational, (education, economic development, employment and training etc.) Other
communities need assurance in areas of cost of living, financial status of the City, quality of living and security. The Urban
crisis for people of color and youth are overwhelming.
The GOP applauds those who serve our country and has always stood for national defense that would keep our sons and daughters
out of war. The GOP fosters the spirit of entrepreneurialism. The GOP believes the most compassionate thing you can do for
every able bodied person is to help them get a job(a hand up) not give a hand out, and provide a safety net for only the truly
needy. The GOP believes in working to ensure access to opportunities, but won't promise you success- only the individual can
deliver that. The GOP believes in sunset clauses on all Government programs otherwise the nearest thing to eternal life on
earth is a Government Program. The GOP believes you should keep more of what you earn (lower taxes).
Let's continue to organize and work to get Republicans elected. Thank you for your time, visit the following pages and
stay tuned for an executive update, information and for up- coming events and projects, in the near future.
Republicanly Speaking
Hon. Keisha C. Morrisey
